The Electrical Apprenticeship program prepares individuals for advancement as a residential or commercial electrician.Apprentices are employed full-time (PAID w/raises). Classes are FREE and on-the-job training is completed during the workday.Graduates of the program earn “journeyman” status as well as state and national credentials, positioning them well for a strong career in a growing job market.

Job Outlook:

The median annual wage for electricians was $56,180 in May 2019. Employment of electricians is projected to grow eight percent from 2019 to 2029, faster than the average for all occupations. Click for more information about the electrical profession from the U.S. Bureau of Labor & Statistics.

Training & Coursework:

• Mounting and routing cables
• Trimming and hanging fixtures
• Light and power wiring
• High and low voltage
• Overhead and underground distribution
• Motor connections, starters and control
• Conduit installation
• Circuit layout and tracing
• Safety procedures
• Care and safe use of tools, materials, and equipment

Apprentices are required to work a total of 8,004 hours On-the-Job Training (OJT) and attend 576 supplemental classroom instructional hours. Upon successful completion of the four-year program, the apprentice will be considered a “journey worker” and will receive a four-level certification by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and will be issued a nationally recognized Completion of Apprenticeship certificate by the State of Florida.
