Student Reporting- Student Responsibilities:

If a student displays symptoms, receives positive test results for COVID-19, and/or suspects that they were exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, the following steps should be followed:

  • Student should report their test results, symptoms/illness, potential exposure to an employee.
  • If on campus, the student will be asked to leave immediately and advised to seek medical attention as quickly as possible.
  • The CFK employee will be responsible for notifying their supervising administrator and for submitting a report through Maxient. Click here to submit a report.
  • CFK’s COVID-19 Contact Management Team will be responsible for communicating with the student, contact tracing, and reporting requirements.
  • If a student has tested positive for COVID-19, the COVID-19 Contact Management Team will coordinate notification of others in the CFK community who may have had close contact* with the student. At no time will personal identifying information of anyone who tests positive be shared in these notifications.
  • Students must adhere to the guidelines below before returning to campus.

Employee Reporting- Employee Responsibilities:

If an employee becomes symptomatic, tests positive for COVID-19, or suspects that they were exposed to someone who has tested positive, it is incumbent upon them to do the following:

  • Report their symptoms/illness, positive test, and/or exposure to their supervisor via telephone (do not email).
  • The supervisor will be responsible for notifying Human Resources.
  • If the symptoms are first noted while on campus, they should depart campus once the supervisor has been contacted.
  • Seek medical care as quickly as possible, including any recommended testing.

Employee Reporting- Supervisor Responsibilities:

The employee’s supervisor will take the following steps upon being notified of the employee’s illness, positive test, and/or exposure:

  • If the employee is on campus, direct them to immediately leave the facility and to seek medical care. Direct the employee not to return to campus until they are cleared to do so from HR.
  • Immediately report this information via Maxient to Human Resources. To protect confidential information, the supervisor should not inform staff that the employee has or potentially has COVID-19. Click here to submit a report.
  • Human Resources will follow-up with employees and provide appropriate guidance. If an employee has tested positive for COVID-19, HR will coordinate notification of others in the CFK community who may have had close contact* with the employee. At no time will personal identifying information of anyone who tests positive be shared in these notifications.

*Close Contact (from the Center for Disease Control): Based on current knowledge, a close contact is someone who was within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 48 hours before illness onset until the time the patient is isolated. If you are notified that you were exposed, you should stay home in quarantine, and self-monitor until 14 days from the last date of exposure.

Students Reporting- Instructor/Employee Responsibilities:

If a student displays symptoms, receives positive test results for COVID-19, and/or suspects that they were exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, the following steps should be followed:

  • If on campus, the employee should direct the student to leave immediately and advise the student to seek medical attention as quickly as possible.

Employee & Student Return to Campus/Work Criteria:

Positive Test, No Symptoms:

If an employee or student has tested positive for COVID-19 but has no symptoms, they must not return to campus until receiving clearance from a health care provider in accordance with the following guidelines:

  • If you continue to have no symptoms, you can come back to work after 10 days have passed since the positive test result.
  • Depending on your health care provider’s advice and availability of testing, you might get tested again to see if you still have COVID-19. 

Positive Test, Symptoms:

Employees and students with COVID-19 who have symptoms and were directed to care for themselves at home may discontinue isolation under the following conditions:

  • 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared and 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving. When You Can be Around Others After You Had or Likely Had COVID-19?
  • Depending on your health care provider’s advice and availability of testing, you might get tested again to see if you still have COVID-19.

Symptoms, Not Tested:

If an employee or a student has symptoms, but has NOT been tested, they will be advised they can return to campus following CDC guidelines below and clearance from a healthcare provider:

Exposure, No Symptoms, Not Tested:

If an employee or a student has been exposed to COVID-19, but has NOT been tested and is not experiencing symptoms, may return to campus after 14 days have passed since date of last exposure.

Students and employees who are impacted/affected by COVID-19 will be contacted by a member of the CFK COVID-19 Contact Management Team who will provide additional guidance and instructions regarding isolation and/or quarantine.
