Originally from Minnesota, Kirsten DeVries holds a bachelor’s degree in English and History at the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University and master’s degrees in English and History from Kent State University. She earned a Ph.D. in medieval history at Loyola University Chicago, which included a year of studying in Vienna, Austria. 

Prior to joining the CFK faculty, DeVries taught for ten years in Roanoke Virginia at Roanoke College, Hollins University, and Virginia Western Community College.
