CFK Board of Trustees to hold special meeting and attorney-client session
KEY WEST, FL, October 2, 2026— The District Board of Trustees of The College of the Florida Keys, Florida will hold a special meeting on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 4:30 PM at the Key West Campus, 5901 College Road, Key West, FL.
General subject matter: The Board will consider the following:
1. Chair's update on the interim president search and next steps, and possible action on the appointment of an interim president [and approval of the terms of the appointment].
2. An attorney-client session under section 286.011(8), Florida Statutes, concerning pending litigation.
3. Ratification of a settlement agreement with Dr. Jonathan Gueverra, if a settlement is reached at the October 7, 2026, mediation.
Attorney-client session: During the special meeting, on October 8, 2026, at approximately 4:45 PM, following Item 1, the Board will meet in a closed attorney-client session under section 286.011(8), Florida Statutes, to discuss pending litigation: District Board of Trustees of The College of the Florida Keys v. Jonathan Gueverra, Ed.D., DOAH Case No. 26-4255. The subject matter will be confined to settlement negotiations or strategy sessions related to litigation expenditures. The persons attending the session will be: Chair Alexandria Suarez, Vice Chair Peter Batty, Trustee Robert Broton, Trustee Michael Downer, Trustee Andrew Dulcey, Trustee Edward Kertis, Trustee Susan Raffanello; Brande Smith, Esq., legal counsel for the Board; Michelle Barnett, Esq., litigation counsel for the Board; and Tanya McCranie, certified court reporter. At the end of the session, the public meeting will reopen.
