KEY WEST, FL, January 24, 2024— The College of the Florida Keys' swim team showcased outstanding performances at the 2024 TYR SoFlo Open, held at the Academic Village Pool in Pembroke Pines, FL from January 19 to 21, 2024. The meet saw multiple achievements by the swimming Tugas, with several personal best times, national qualifications, and a school record broken. 

The women's team, consisting of Isabella Oliverio, Lauren Walterson, and Lillian Zebny, delivered praiseworthy performances. Oliverio achieved personal best times in the 200-yard IM, 50-yard butterfly, and 100-yard IM. Walterson excelled in the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, while also breaking the school record in the 100-yard butterfly. Zebny demonstrated her prowess in the 100-yard backstroke. 

On the men's side, Kaemon Fagley and Eddie Kertis displayed impressive skills. Fagley set personal best times in the 100-yard backstroke, 50-yard backstroke, and 100-yard IM, qualifying for the nationals in the 100-yard backstroke, 50-yard backstroke, and 50-yard butterfly. Kertis excelled in the 100-yard free, 100-yard breaststroke, and 50-yard breaststroke, securing a spot in the nationals for the 100-yard breaststroke and 50-yard breaststroke. 

In total, three swimmers from CFK have qualified for the nationals in ten events. 

The Tugas will next compete at the Stanton C. Craigie Memorial Invitational meet, February 2- 4, in Ft. Pierce, FL.
