He also recounts a dramatic expedition—raising a two-ton anchor from 150 feet of water amid tiger sharks, strong currents, and fading light on one of the world’s most remote uninhabited islands.

CFK Academy open house for Prospective Students

Learn more about CFK Academy, the tuition-free public charter high school at The College of the Florida Keys. Come to the Info Event on January 29 at 5:30 p.m. to learn about the curriculum that centers on STEM, Career Technical Education, and Project-Based Learning, tour the brand new building on the College’s Key West Campus, and receive help with the application for the 2026-27 school year. Applications are due February 24, 2026 and the lottery is scheduled for February 27, 2026.

The College of the Florida Keys is promoting our 2nd annual Community Day at our Upper Keys Center, which will be held on January 31. Just like our event in Key West, it's a fun, family-friendly festival that showcases the College and our connections to the community. We have a lot of FREE activities for kids, interactive exhibits, music, food, etc.
