  • Question 1: When and where is the CFK Fall 2020 Commencement Ceremony?
    • The College of the Florida Keys Fall 2020 Commencement Ceremony will be held Friday, December 11, 2020, outdoors at the William A. Seeker Key West Campus (5901 College Road, Key West, FL 33040).  The location of the stage and seating area will be on the paved area adjacent to the “M” Building.  Please refer to the RED STAR label on the included campus map.  Commencement begins promptly at 4:00 p.m.  Check-in for graduates begins at 3:00 p.m. in the open area at the top of the stairs between the Tennessee Williams Fine Arts Center and the “B” Building.  Please refer to the YELLOW STAR label on the included campus map.  After checking in, graduates will be free to enter the seating area with their ticketed guests starting at 3:15 p.m.  Please note that there will not be a graduate procession for this ceremony.  Graduates will enter with and sit with their guests during the duration of the ceremony (except when called to cross the stage and receive diplomas), socially distanced from other attendees.  Please be on time.
    • In the case of inclement weather and the subsequent cancelation of the ceremony, all graduates will be notified via email at least one day prior to the event.
  • Question 2: What safety measures will be in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic?
    • All attendees over the age of six (6) must wear masks while on the CFK premises for the duration of the commencement ceremony.  Masks will be provided for those in need.  Refusal to wear a mask will forfeit your right to attend the ceremony.  CFK will also follow strict social distancing procedures for all attendees throughout the campus and in the seating area.  Refusal to follow social distancing procedures will forfeit your right to attend the ceremony.
  • Question 3: Will I need a ticket to attend my graduation ceremony?
    • No.  Graduates do not need tickets to participate in the commencement ceremony, but they must be dressed in commencement regalia and have applied for graduation through the Office of Enrollment Services before the October 1, 2020 deadline.
  • Question 4: Will my guests need tickets to the graduation ceremony?
    • Yes, every guest occupying a seat requires a ticket to attend the ceremony.  Children aged two (2) and under do not need a ticket but must be seated in the lap of a parent/guardian.  PLEASE NOTE: Graduates will be able to retrieve their two guest tickets in advance during the two weeks prior to the ceremony from the Key West campus front office.  For those unable to retrieve their tickets in advance, they will be held under the name of the graduate at the entrance to the seating area beginning at 3:00 p.m. on the day of the event.  Graduates that do not live in Key West should opt to retrieve their tickets on the day of the event.  No confirmation is needed if you choose to retrieve your tickets on the day of the event.  Your tickets will simply be waiting for you.  *Remember, graduates should enter the seating area with their guests, and are required to sit with their guests during the duration of the ceremony (except when called to cross the stage and receive diplomas).
  • Question 5: How many tickets will I receive for guests?
    • To safely accommodate you and your guests by following COVID-19 pandemic safety measures in a limited-seating space, each graduate will receive two (2) guest tickets for the Fall 2020 Commencement Ceremony.  Tickets are non-replaceable and do not have monetary value.  The College does not support or condone the selling of guest tickets.  The College is not responsible for lost, stolen, or destroyed guest tickets.  There will be no overflow seating areas nor opportunities for guests without tickets to attend this event in person.  This includes gathering at any location outside of the seating area on CFK property.  Please plan accordingly.
    • If a graduate does not require one (1) or both of their allocated tickets, they are asked to confirm this with Micah Carter at 305-809-3268 or micah.carter@cfk.edu by Friday, December 4, 2020.  These remaining tickets will be available to other graduates to claim during the time between Monday, December 7, 2020, and Thursday, December 10, 2020.  You must coordinate this process directly with Micah Carter via email or phone.  PLEASE NOTE: Unless you get direct confirmation that extra tickets have been allotted to you from Micah Carter, do not allow extra guests to attend the event.  They will not be admitted.
  • Question 6: Can I receive extra tickets?
    • The only opportunity to receive extra tickets is if another graduate has elected to forfeit one (1) or both of their allocated tickets (see Question 5) by Friday, December 4, 2020.  It is the responsibility of the requesting graduate to contact Micah Carter between Monday, December 7, 2020, and Thursday, December 10, 2020, to confirm if extras are available to be allocated.
  • Question 7: Are my tickets for reserved seats or general admission?
    • There is no reserved seating in the outdoor space on the Key West campus.  The tickets are for general admission.  Seats will be socially distanced and available on a first-come, first-serve basis for those with tickets.  Guests with tickets will be seated in the seating area beginning at 3:15 p.m.  The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00 p.m.  Guests who arrive late, or those without tickets, will not be allowed into the seating area and will be instructed to leave CFK property.
    • Please note that ticket distribution is based upon compliance with COVID-19 pandemic safety procedures, the actual number of graduates participating in the ceremony, and the seating capacity of the designated seating area.  If you are a graduate that has obtained extra guest tickets (following the procedures detailed in this document), note that seating “pods” (groups of chairs) are not to exceed four (4) chairs.  If you obtain tickets for more than three (3) guests, your group must be split.  You will still be able to choose “pods” in proximity to each other.
    • If your guests require accessible parking and/or seating at the commencement ceremony, please contact Micah Carter at 305-809-3268 or via email at micah.carter@cfk.edu.  Accessible parking and seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, but it is limited.
  • Question 8: Do I need to show ID (school or photo) to pick up my guest tickets?
    • Yes.  For those graduates retrieving their tickets in advance during the two weeks prior to the ceremony from the Key West campus front office, proper identification will be required.  For ticket retrieval on the day of the event at the entrance to the seating area, the tickets will be held under the name of the graduate.
  • Question 9: Where and when do I pick up my guest tickets?
    • The College will distribute commencement tickets in advance at the Key West campus front office during normal business hours between November 30, 2020, and December 11, 2020 (by 12:00 p.m.).  Remaining tickets will be held for retrieval under the name of the graduate on the day of the event at the entrance to the seating area beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Graduates that do not live in Key West should opt to retrieve their tickets on the day of the event at the entrance to the seating area starting at 3:00 p.m.
  • Question 10: What happens if I lose my tickets or guests forget theirs?
    • Please note that replacement tickets will not be issued if your allotment is lost or destroyed.  The College is not responsible for lost, stolen, or destroyed guest tickets.  Guests without tickets will not be allowed into the seating area and will be instructed to leave CFK property.
  • Question 11: What happens if I do not pick up my tickets by the last day and time of advance ticket disbursement (Friday, December 11, 2020, at 12:00 p.m.)?
    • All remaining tickets will be held for retrieval under the name of the graduate on the day of the event at the entrance to the seating area beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Graduates that do not live in Key West should opt to retrieve their tickets on the day of the event at the entrance to the seating area starting at 3:00 p.m.
  • Question 12: Will there be an opportunity for guests to view the commencement ceremony virtually?
