KEY WEST, FL, June 15, 2026— The College of the Florida Keys (CFK) has been awarded a grant from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Foundation to support physical conditioning for its men’s and women’s swimming teams. The grant will provide CFK athletes with a dryland trainer, a specialized machine designed to improve strength, stamina, and stroke mechanics outside of the pool. Utilizing the trainer will boost the athletes' efficiency in the water, lower the risk of impact-related injuries, and promote long-term health and performance.

“The physical and mental discipline developed by CFK’s athletes as members of the swim team contribute to their performance in the pool and in the classroom,” said Lori Bosco, CFK Athletic Director and Swim Coach. “Support from NJCAA for tools like a dryland trainer is vital for our athletes to achieve higher level goals."

The CFK Swim Team fields men’s and women’s athletes who compete in meets across Florida and at national competitions. As a member of the NJCAA, CFK Athletics provides student-athletes with opportunities to grow through competition, teamwork, and academic achievement. Dryland trainers are widely used by competitive swimmers and other athletes to achieve high-quality conditioning sessions on land.

“The NJCAA Foundation is excited to further support the growth of NJCAA member colleges and the sport programs they offer through the NJCAA Sport Opportunity Grant,” said Andrew Givens, NJCAA Foundation Executive Director. “The ability to provide this funding is a testament to the importance and growth of two-year collegiate athletics. The NJCAA Foundation looks forward to this initiative’s impact as NJCAA member colleges continue to create opportunities for student-athletes across the country.”

The College is actively recruiting new athletes for both the men’s and women’s teams. Preseason practice begins in August, with the competitive season getting underway in September.
