Office of Community Education and Workforce Training

The Community Education Department offers a wide range of non-credit classes and seminars designed to help the individual fulfill their potential, both personally and professionally. Programs and classes are held in Key West on the main campus and the Upper Keys Center in Key Largo, as well as various business sites.   

We offer non-credit courses in the classroom and online courses so that you can decide whether to come to our campus or stay at home and learn. Our course listings are frequently updated, so check back often for the latest information about our ever-growing Continuing Education program.

Apply for a Community Education Course

If you have already filed an application with CFK in the past and have taken classes with us, you can simply fill out the Registration form for the class in which you would like to enroll and submit it to the Admissions office along with your payment.

CFK has partnered with Ed2go for online course offerings. Together we offer many online certificate programs in the Allied Health, Computer-Internet, Business, Technical and Construction industries.    

Health Care Training

Looking for a Health Care Career but can’t find the time to attend in person? CFK has partnered with Condensed Curriculum International (CCI) for online certificate programs in Allied Health. To view all certification options, visit the CCI CFK store.

Captain License Programs

CFK has partnered with Mariners Learning System. Whether you are pursuing a professional career in commercial boating, or simply looking to enhance your knowledge, we have a program to meet your educational needs.  Together we offer online Coast Guard Approved Captain’s Licensing Programs. Courses include OUPV/SixPack Captain’s License, OUPV Upgrade to Master, Master 25/50/100 Ton License, Deck License Renewal, Towing Endorsement, and Sailing Endorsement.

CDL Road Test

The College of the Florida Keys is an approved Commercial Driver License (CDL) Third-Party Test Administrator with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). Qualified individuals may take the Road Test for CDL Cass A, B, and C.

To schedule a CDL road test, the tester must have a current CDL permit issued by FLHSMV with the proper endorsements and have successfully completed the Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) required Theory and Behind-The-Wheel Training at a training provider of their choice. Please note that The College of the Florida Keys does not offer ELDT training.

Once your training is complete, contact the Testing Center so that we may gather the necessary documents to schedule your road test. You will need to complete an application for Community Education on the College’s website. The road test requires you to provide your own vehicle, registration, proof of insurance, driver’s license, and CDL permit.

Payment is due four (4) business days before the test date via credit card by phone at the Business Office 305-809-3186, or in person 5901 College Road, Building A, Key West, FL 33040.
