CFK and the Marathon Chamber of Commerce are holding a free workshop to help local high school students, their families, mentors, and guidance counselors navigate the daunting sea of college decisions, requirements, and deadlines. The first part will focus on writing for college applications and scholarships. The second part will be about exploring ways to pay for college.

Traci Brimhall is a professor of creative writing at Kansas State University and former poet laureate for the State of Kansas. She is the author of five collections of poetry, including Love Prodigal, as well as the forthcoming essay collection The Grief Artist. Her poems have appeared in publications such as The New Yorker, The Nation, The New Republic, Poetry, The New York Times Magazine, and The Atlantic. She’s received fellowships from National Endowment for the Arts, the National Park Service, the Guggenheim Museum, and Purdue Library’s Special Collections to study the lost poem drafts of Amelia Earhart.
