Land a top job or advance in your career by earning a Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management (BAS-SM) at The College of the Florida Keys.  The baccalaureate degree is designed to prepare graduates to lead and succeed in a wide range of jobs in industries in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

The BAS-SM program includes both coursework and field experience in supervision and management settings, which enables students to integrate theory learned in the classroom with real-world practice.  Graduates will acquire specialized skills in management, finance, marketing, human resources, and leadership.  The BAS-SM program will prepare individuals to develop, plan, manage, and supervise in a variety of workforce settings needed in the Florida Keys and nationwide.

Coursework:

The BAS: Supervision and Management is a four-year degree comprised of 36 credit hours of general education courses, 42 credit hours of lower-level specialized courses, and 42 hours of upper-level course work—totaling 120 credits.  The program follows a “2 + 2” model, in which a student first earns an associate degree or equivalent (two-year degree) before entering two years of upper level coursework (read more below).  Upper-level coursework includes, but is not limited to the following:

2 + 2 Pathway:

The BAS in Supervision and Management follows a “2 + 2” model, which builds upon knowledge and skills already acquired at the associate degree level.  To be admitted to the BAS-SM program, students must have earned an Associate in Arts, an Associate in Science, or an equivalent from a regionally accredited institution.

You can start your journey toward the BAS-SM through several academic paths at CFK.  First, choose an associate degree that best aligns with your career interests and goals.  Upon completion of your associate degree, you may apply to the BAS program.

Students must have earned a minimum of one hundred twenty (120) credit hours; including successful completion of thirty–six (36) general education credit hours, forty–two (42) credit hours of lower level specialized and technical courses, and forty–two (42) credit hours of upper–level required courses.

Foreign Language Requirement Prior to completion of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management (B.A.S.–S.M.) at the College, students must demonstrate foreign language competence by providing evidence that documents the successful completion of two (2) credits of sequential high school foreign language instruction, or by passing the second level of foreign language at the college level. Students may demonstrate equivalent foreign language competence via the alternative methods specified by the Florida Department of Education including established minimum College Level Examination Program (CLEP) scores, or other methods as determined by the College. The College reserves the right to validate the foreign language competence of any student prior to awarding the Associate in Arts Degree through methods including, but not limited to, review of official transcripts, portfolio and performance reviews, competency testing, standardized testing, or other methods determined by the College that are designed to assess the foreign language competencies outlined in Rule 6A– 10.02412 of the Florida Administrative Code. Some majors and universities require additional foreign language competencies. Please consult an advisor regarding your foreign language transfer requirements. *Non-degree seeking students who hold a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution may register for up to six credits in the following courses with prior administrative approval: MAN 4441 – Negotiation (3), GEB 4891 – Strategic Planning and Management (3), or MAR 4802 – Managerial Marketing (3).
